Dilip Tirkey was born in odisha on 25 November 1977 and there parents are Regina Tirkey and Vincent Tirkey a former CRPF odisha hockey pl. His two young brothers Anoop Tirkey and Ajit Tirkey plays for Indian Railway. He is married to mamta Tirkey. He was appointed as the Deputy Manager at Air India Bhubaneswar.

With the Men’s Hockey world Cup, to be held in India, just months away ( from 13 January 2023) and with the team getting a favourable draw, hopes will be high from the team.

Fromer India captain Dilip Tirkey has been elected unopposed as the new President of hockey India (HI). The three time Olympic regarded as one of India best defenders was the favourite to take over as the President after he filed his nomination as the president of odisha hockey federations

The election were supposed to held next month, but Tirkey was named the president after Hockey Jharkhand, President Bhola Nath singh withdrew his candidature for the past. Singh was elected unopposed as the secretary general of the new (HI) executive.

Dilip Tirkey sports Research Development Foundation (DTSRD) was initiated by Dilip Tirkey. Dibakar parichha and prime Abhilas serve as secretary General and Managing Director of DTSRD organized a six – a- side Hockey fest for village teams at eight century in Sundargad and Bhubaneswar in 2010. In 2016,Dilip Tirkey sports Researchers development foundation organised one of the largest hockey tournaments in the world. The Biju PatNaik Rural Hockey Championship for the tribals of odisha, Jharkhand and chhatisgarh which was inaugurated by the vice President of India Mohammad Hamid Ansuri and odisha chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The tournament comprised over 22000 players, and 1500 teams from 900 village, which was a Guinness world record. The objective of the tournament was to bring about a sports culture in the naxa in fested regions and ensure that the tribal your pick up hockey sticks and not guns.

2018 ରେ ଓଡିଶା ସଫଳତାର ସହିତ ପୁରୁଷ ହକି ବିଶ୍ୱକପ ଆୟୋଜନ କରିଥିଲା l କ୍ରମାଗତ ଭାବେ ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟ ଥର ପୁଣି ସୁଯୋଗ ମିଳିଛି ଓଡିଶାକୁ l ଏହା ରାଜ୍ୟ ଓ ଦେଶ ପାଇଁ ଗର୍ବ ଓ ଗୌରବର କଥା l ଏଥର ଓଡିଶାର ଦୁଇଟି ସ୍ଥାନ ଭୁବନେଶ୍ୱର ଓ ରାଉଲକେଲାରେ ବିଶ୍ୱକପ ଖେଳାଯିବ l ରାଉଲକେଲାର ବିର୍ସା ମୁଣ୍ଡା ହକି ଷ୍ଟାଡିୟମରେ ଖେଳାଯିବ ଓ ଏଠାରେ 20 ହଜାର ଦର୍ଶକ ମ୍ୟାଚ ଦେଖିପାରିବେ l ଓଡିଶାର ସୁନ୍ଦରଗଡ଼କୁ ହକିର ଅନ୍ତୁଡିଶାଳ ବୋଲି କୁହାଯାଏ l ମୁଖ୍ୟମନ୍ତ୍ରୀଙ୍କ ଯୋଗୁ ଓଡିଶାରେ ହକି ସଫଳତାର ଶୀର୍ଷ ସ୍ତରରେ ପହଞ୍ଚିପାରିଛି l ବିଭିନ୍ନ ଦେଶର ହକି ଖେଳାଳି ଏବଂ ବିଦେଶୀ ପର୍ଯଟକଙ୍କ ସୁବିଧା ପାଇଁ ସବୁ ପ୍ରକାର ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା କରାଯାଇଛି l ରାଉଲକେଲାରେ 45 ମିନିଟ ଭିତରେ ସବୁ ଟିକେଟ ସରିଯାଇଛି l
