MUMBAI: On Saturday night, the legendary MS Dhoni will captain the Chennai Super Kings against the Mumbai Indians in a titanic match, twelve years after he led India to a storied victory at the 2011 World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium. This could be his final appearance at this legendary  location.

It only adds to the appeal of the match that it is the opening round of the IPL’s “El Clasico.”

It’s still early in the IPL 2023 season, but Dhoni has already shown flashes of his old brilliance in his quick cameos of 14 not out off seven balls against Gujarat Titans and 12 off three balls against the Lucknow Super Giants, during which he slammed back-to-back sixes off the pacy Mark Wood.

Dhoni has already displayed flashes of his former brilliance. 

The 41-year-old, who is arguably the best white-ball finisher of all time, isn’t in the best of shape but can still deliver a punch when necessary.

He damaged them last year at the DY Patil Stadium, and MI- themselves won’t soon forget it. 

By scoring an undefeated 28 from 13 balls and unleashing a fierce attack on Jaydev Unadkat, CSK was able to win by an astounding three wickets.

MI would fervently hope that their star-studded starting batting lineup, which includes India captain Rohit Sharma and his opening partner Ishan Kishan, can perform well.Australias star all rounder cameron Green and the world’s No 1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav fires early into the tournament and that too in a big cricket game like this.
